Himalayan Cavern
Tibet, 1028
The air up here is so cold you can’t help but imagine ice crystals forming in your throat as you breathe. The cave entrance yawns open before you, infinite black waiting to swallow you whole. As you step inside, something cracks beneath your feet–too weak to be rocks and too strong to be sticks. You know what it must be but you try to ignore the fear that grips your belly. In an attempt to gain control of your mounting terror, you remind yourself that it’s 1028 and you’re in the Himalayan Mountains. You learned in the village at the base of the mountain that the Time Bandit followed a monk up here, but why on earth would either of them come to a place that’s said to be the home of a hideous beast? You move further inside the cavern with your team, brushing away thick, sticky cobwebs from your path. When someone’s lantern flickers on, your suspicions about the cracking beneath you in confirmed. Bones.
